I fell in love with the film Burn After Reading, and took a liking in actress Tilda Swinton. I did not delve too deeply into her acting career, as is characteristic of me. I wait for things to sink in before I become obsessive in my pursuit to find out more about people, places, and events. But I felt that, in her various films and her peculiar style, that she wasn't typical. Typical in the sense, oblivious or prone to fab and fame in the most ignorant sense of what fame can mean for so many.
In 2009 Swinton signed her name to a statement, "Please listen, before it is too late." In the November 2011 issue of Vogue magazine, Swinton poses with a scarf blaring the name of Palestine and the symbolic key to homeland. The scarf was designed for the Hoping Foundation. When one reads about Swinton, they find that she comes from a family that is rather humble when it comes to voice. Her father once told her she spoke to much rather than congratulating her following an acting project. And another critique artfully stated that Swinton speaks with her body. While it is hard to trace a public statement supporting Palestine, Swinton goes to show that even symbolic support is enough to make a loud fashion statement.
