Palestinians: Stop Watching Turkish Soap Operas

Erdogan shaking hands with Ariel Sharon

Turning to Israel, Erdogan said: 'It is out of the question for Turkey to normalise ties with Israel" unless it apologises for last year's deadly flotilla raid, pays compensation and lifts a blockade imposed on Gaza. 'Israel sees itself above the law,' he said, and accused the Jewish state of 'turning a deaf ear' to Turkey's demands.--Ahram Online

Erdogan marches into the Arab League ready to tell the Arabs who were once subjects to his homelands colonization over a century ago. He tells them what they need to do together, and that he supports their endeavors. He seasons his call for a Palestinian state with typical nationalist imagery of raised Palestinian flags in a shared declaration of statehood before the UN. He is the hero of desperates.

The Arabs applauded. They have nothing else to applaud after doing so every time they look in the mirror.

Erdogan marked the terrorism of Israel as brutal, denouncing it, while Turkey has at least one major genocide under its belt which it fails to recognize until today.

People were martyred. Much like the youth who fell in the streets from Qalandia all the way to Jenin, the innocent civilians who wish to live and were left drowning in their own blood: Turkish nationals were targeted and killed for their defense of life. And today they drowned deeper under a false leader.

The defense of life is not a political game. It is a sacrifice for shared humanization. It is humble and selfless. It is a bonding of the familial net in true mourning with the heart that beats red and air into the veins of a conscious human being.

But Erdogan, or Mahmood Abbas, or any of those people standing in that air conditioned forum of bullshit would not understand this. While they play the game of politics, and decide who is the pawn and who is the queen to maneuver all over the board of colonial borders, people continue to die.

And much like the NGOs, the institutions, the men in suits and SUVs, the blood of the martyr always seems to be the wine of the corrupt.

Their death afforded an agenda. We watch. We clap. We want Erdogan to visit our refugee camps and walk amongst us. But we have become his and every leader's sideshow clown.

This is the Turkish soap opera. Look around, get comfortable. Palestinians seem to willingly accept the roles these day as a population of characters just to uphold the development of one. It is a selfish role in a tragic melodramatic sitcom of repeated history.

The day Arabs collectively learn to turn away from the kitsch Turkish soap operas is the day Arabs will be in control of their own diplomacy.

Jerusalem is the heart of empire. For now we are just characters in a scheme of super power wannabes who ride our weary backs. He wants a state that he once brutally colonized. He calls us his "brothers."

Any brother to the PA is an enemy of mine.

  1. would like to buy wholesale turkish soap. Is there a place you recommend? Natura is the most natural Turkish soap I've ever found. Do you think I should use https://www.naturalturkishsoap.com/ as a wholesale Turkish soap?
